The undersigned wishes to inform any and all that yes, he is indeed painting again. And yes, pieces are available.

The pieces are slow and layered. Rooted in a simple and earnest fascination with the threshold where land meets sea. They seek to hold the raw experience of standing at that edge, and draw from the coastline’s rich storytelling tradition, the one found at beach parking lots, fishing piers, craigslist board swaps, and invites into RVs for morning coffee.

Any questions beyond that, including “what does that shape represent?” or “what does that color mean?” will be answered in the usual manner of “ummms” and “i dunnos”. Let’s not a ruin a good thing with an explanation.

Design and teaching still occur, but at their own pace. To design is to exercise agency, to teach is to transfer agency, and to paint is to dissolve any agency and let something new emerge.

In the midst of forever wars and artificial intelligence outpacing our own moral frameworks there is still light. We can connect with the elemental twice daily at sunrise and sunset.

Is there an alchemy more pure than making images from mud and earth pigments?

There’s plenty to do. Let’s get to it.

Thanks for looking,
